We're here with Radoslav Štefánek, AI Envoy for Slovakia. Thank you for being with us. What are some of the problems you're looking to solve with AI, and where might Mistral play a role?
Like every country, we have many problems in the public sector. It's old-fashioned, with old systems and so on. Now we have this artificial intelligence hype. On the other hand, I'm sure it can help prepare Europe for the future, in terms of efficiency, better relations between countries and better services for citizens. It's a huge project ahead of us. I'm really looking forward to it.
What impact do you think AI and Mistral are having on the work you're doing today?
I remember the first moment we met in Berlin with you guys from Mistral. From my perspective, when the chemistry works from the very first moment… At the end of the day, it's about the people working together. Since then, we've had many, many meetings. I'm sure we can achieve great things together. At the beginning, we decided to start with small projects and small examples, like helping us manage our schedules and manage our emails. To show people that artificial intelligence can help them with their work and make it easier and better.
What does the phrase “Own your AI future” mean to you?
Compared with the current situation, being comfortable, knowing that everything is running well and precisely, without mistakes, and with a high level of quality.
And then customisation and control: how do you think about those when employing AI in your country?
They are essential from the very beginning, because processes at government level and in public administration are different from implementing artificial intelligence in private companies. Everything has its own rules. Sometimes it can be hard, because people working for the government are sometimes older. That is not a disadvantage. It's just a fact. Sometimes it's hard to think differently. The way we can change that is to start with small projects and demonstrate that they work and that they can help.
One thing we're excited about is that we recently turned three. It's our third anniversary at Mistral. Is there a message you'd like to give us?
Happy birthday! To me, you're a great team. That's one reason we started working together. I hope that for at least the next three years we will continue to build our relationship, making it better and stronger, and after those three years we'll have completed many great projects together.
At Mistral, we're also excited about AI for Citizens. You're familiar with our work in the public sector. What value do you see in that programme?
It's always hard to meet people's expectations in every country. They don't care whether technology supports the services. They want a result that works. That's really important to me. I'd really like to use your technology and our relationship to create something really good, to show people that we can change the quality of public services compared with today.
What are you excited to work on together next in AI?
That's a good question. It's hard to answer. Everything is open for the future. I'm sure everything is possible.
One final question: if a government is considering a partnership with Mistral, what would you tell them? Why should they consider working with us?
They already know about you. As an AI plenipotentiary or envoy, I speak a lot about Mistral, about European cooperation and these kinds of relationships. It's really important to me that we Europeans can talk and work together for a better future for the EU and Europe as a whole.
Thank you so much. We appreciate your time. Thank you. Thank you.
